Our Store Safety Plan
At JCPenney Optical, our top priority is the health and safety of our customers and associates. As we begin the gradual reopening process, here are some of the precautions we are taking.
Associates are regularly screened for signs associated with COVID-19, and have been asked to stay home if they exhibit symptoms or suspect exposure to someone who has. We kindly request that you follow the same self-screening process before visiting our store.
We strive to maintain a distance of at least six feet whenever possible, and from time to time we may limit store capacity to comply with these guidelines. Please help us uphold this standard by limiting the number of people in your party to those who are in immediate need of our services.
For your safety, customers and store associates are required to wear masks at all times.
We wash our hands regularly, and have hand sanitizer available for customer use in all stores.
Equipment and Surface Cleaning
All equipment and surfaces are regularly cleaned between customer interactions.
Frame Selection Safety
All frames are thoroughly disinfected after each customer touchpoint. We ask that you help us maintain this safety standard by only handling frames that you would like to try on.

In general, as JCPenney locations reopen, our optical department typically follows closely behind by about a week (although it may vary a bit due to state regulations and the close-contact nature of our optical business). If your store is listed here and you have not yet been contacted, please call your local optical store to verify hours and request a status update. If your store is not yet listed, please know that we are actively working to reopen the remaining locations as quickly as possible. As our associates return to each optical location, their top priority is taking care of customers who have been patiently waiting to receive their eyewear. They will immediately begin the process of inspecting open orders and calling to arrange for pickup.
Doctors have returned to some of our locations, but others are not yet seeing patients. It is best to call your local store to verify doctor hours and exam availability.
Customers who would like to reorder contact lenses can place an order here. Rx info can be typically be found on the side of your current contact lens boxes and will be verified prior to fulfillment once your order is placed. If your prescription has expired or you do not have your info, please call your local store for assistance and/or to schedule an exam.
