Transitions Lenses & EyeglassesTransitions® Lenses are adjustable - tinted lenses designed to provide comfort in almost all indoor and outdoor lighting situations, going from clear to dark quickly. They are virtually clear indoors, so they can be everyday, all-the-time lenses. Transitions Lenses are available in most prescriptions and lens styles, and are available in Plastic, Polycarbonate lenses and High-Index lens materials, and in grey and brown colors. Transitions Lenses contain light-sensitive molecules that darken and lighten according to the intensity of ultraviolet (UV) light. When the lenses are exposed to outdoor light, the UV light sensitive molecules rearrange themselves into formations that absorb visible light, causing the lenses to darken to comfort the eye. When the Transitions eyeglass wearer goes indoors, or as the sunlight diminishes, exposure to UV rays is reduced and the molecules return to their original formation. When this occurs, the lenses fade back to their clear state, and let virtually all of the visible light pass through the lens, resulting in exceptionally clear visual acuity. Transitions Glasses provide 100% UV protection, even in their clear state. It should be noted that since they react to UV rays of the sun, Transitions eyeglasses will darken very little because car windshields block most UV rays. Under such circumstances, you may want to wear prescription sunglasses for maximum greater comfort. while driving. |
